5 COMICS RECOMMENDATION FOR BEGINNERS

        You don’t have anything to do when you have a free time? Well, I know what you should do instead. Read comics! There are so many comics, manga, manhwa or manhua on the internet. You just have to type the titles that you want and there you go!. But some webs on the internet isn’t available in some country, a.k.a they’re banned so you may have to use a vpn to open the web. What about buying them offline instead? Yes, I would recommend that too. But here’s the problem with buying them from the store, they have a limited genre and they usually don’t have the completed chapter for a series comics so you really have to wait for a quite long time for them to get released in your local book store or you can buy them online or read them on a trusted online web. I usually check the comic that I wanted to buy at my local book store first, if I can’t find them then I’ll buy them online and if its not released on my country yet I just read them online. Read them online is free, some of them are paid, but even though I already read them from the web I would still buy the physical form as my collection and to support the creator. Before that, I’ll warn you that you should be atleast age 18+ to read these comics. Now, I’ll recommend some of amazing comics that you should totally read!

* ˚ ✦What A Wonderful World!

         Made by Inio Asano, What A Wonderful World! is a manga that center around young adults, going through some awkward moments, depressed moments and going head to head on with life. Inio Asano once again takes you into the lives of teenagers who have the odds against them. In my opinion, this manga might be a little confusing but if you pay attention to it and focused while reading them you can catch up easily and the art in this manga is uniquely beautiful.

          What a Wonderful World! hops around a bit from track to track. Sometimes vibrant, sometimes somber. Asano doesn’t hit the reader over the head with any one message. Some might find what looks to be a mere collection of short stories to be a bit scattered, but by book’s end I personally saw him driving everything toward a single goal—something that quietly turns in the face of what everything in the world is saying and demurely gives it the finger. In the end, he mimics Armstrong’s own rejection of what is sensible to the eyes and proposes that rebellion is found in beauty and the careful tending of our relationships one with another. Asano’s solution to the slack-jaws that society never tires of pumping out with assembly-line utility: stop being such a cog, look around, and let’s all exclaim together, “What a Wonderful World!”. Reading this manga is such a rollercoaster of emotions.

* ˚ ✦Bastard

        Bastard is manhwa made by Carnby Kim and Youngchan Hwang. Bastard is a suspenseful psychological, Horror, romance story that will keep you on the edge of your seat with curiosity. When reading Bastard, you will feel the emotions the characters have. Their thoughts, motives, and emotions are all portrayed excellently. How does a young child deal with the psychological impact of being exposed to the brutal murders of a serial killer? Do you lose your mind, or do you find the strength to move forward and overcome the trauma? 

        The story revolves around how Jin has coped with such a traumatic past. Hardships and tests of friendship put the characters in a state where they not only question their ideals, but their trust in others as well. Jin often wonders if he is the person he thinks he is, or if he’s just living a facade. It captures his mindset well and even causes you to reevaluate everything you think you know. I was reading this manhwa with my friend back in middle school, and we talked about how the story would end, who’s the bad guy and who’s the good guy. Neither of our guesses were right that day, that’s how unpredictable this comic was.

* ˚ ✦19 Days

        19 days (19天) is a Chinese webcomic written and illustrated by artist Old Xian (old先). Before you read this one, I’ll give you a warning that this comic includes a bromance but mostly of their story are hilarious and ridiculous. 19 days tells the hilarious story about the daily school life of a group of hot-blooded teenagers their touching friendship and personal growth. Featuring characters Jian Yi (见一) and Zhan Zheng Xi (展正希), who are childhood friends, the handsome He Tian (賀天) and the reluctant Mo Guan Shan (莫关山). The story shows snippets of and revolves around middle schoolers Jian Yi and Zhan Zheng Xi, their friendship and the slow realization that they both feel something more. While Zhan Zheng Xi has a pretty normal and adorable family, Jian Yi seems to come from some turbulent roots. The story jumps around, between present and future, showing how Jian Yi disappeared the second day of high school, to be reappear at Zhan Zheng Xi’s doorsteps years later. While the tone of the comic is mostly comedic and humorous, the author also throws in some bittersweet nostalgia, angst and the general heartbreaking feeling of falling in love.

* ˚ ✦Gokushufudou (The Way Of The Househusband)

        Gokushufudou (The Way Of The Househusband) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kousuke Oono. This manga features Tatsu, the former Immortal Dragon, an ex-yakuza member turned house husband who is just trying to adjust to being the best husband to his wife. From cooking her lunches to running to the grocery store to doing all the cleaning in the apartment, Tatsu takes his duties as stay-at-home-husband very seriously, trying to leave his yakuza past behind him. But sometimes that’s harder than it might seem as people from his past start popping up around town. What shocked both allies and rivals alike was Tatsu’s sudden disappearance, only to be found by his junior Masa living as a full-time househusband. It turned out Tatsu was earlier saved by his future wife, Miku, upon seeing him injured in their first meeting. With Miku working as a professional, Tatsu was left in charge of their home. And so, the plot followed the life of this reformed gokudou as he endeavored in the ravaging battlefield of homemakers. If you’re looking for a heartwarming, slice of life manga this manga is the right one.

* ˚ ✦Jujika No Rokunin

       Jūjika no Rokunin (十字架のろくにん,Cross of the Six People) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Nakatake Shiryū. Jūjika no Rokunin depicts the revenge of the main character on his bullies. In order to defeat several non-human monsters, the boy also became something non-human. Uruma Shun, a sixth-grade student, was named "Experimental body: A" by five of his classmates and was severely bullied and lived in hell. His only peace was with his brother, who loved him, and his parents, who protected him until the five monsters killed his family. When he finally loses everything and faces true hell, a dark "wish" is born inside Shun. He was reborn under the training of his grandfather, who served in a secret unit during WWII. Now, four years later, he appears in front of his Bloody enemies. After killing four of his bullies Kyou Shigoku the leader reveals that he has a cult called the revolution club which has him killed his grandpa and brother leaving him alone.Uruma was arrested for 5 years and in the time skip lost his memories and joined Juujika. In my opinion, this manga is what I called ‘a sweet revenge’. It may be a bit disturbing, but it’s worth to read.

        There are so many more comics that you can find if you want to dive deeper, but you may as well find something that you don't want while you diving in. You can find any comics that you desired, just be sure to support the creators by buying their works or read their works on an official web.
